Maybe you took the wrong turn in Fort Frolic, and found yourself in 'Gallery of Narcissus' (which is of course a Hall of Mirrors). Or, maybe you're rich enough to have a huge walk-in-closet, and while you walked in looking for the light, you just kept going. Or maybe you lost track of where you were wandering in the haze of an ADAM high.

Or some other reason - it doesn't matter. Because now, Jack, you're wandering through a labyrinth of mirrors, and no matter where you turn, you see your face.

You're pretty sure that's your face. You're pretty sure that's you, but - is it moving the same way you are? Are you sure?



((ooc: SO THIS IS HOW IT'S GOING TO GO - first comment/tag wherever in a thread, you list your Jack's info in the thread title, NAME / AU / TIMELINE. Example: Jack Wynand - Good End - Post-Game, or Jack Ryan | Batya | Chapter Nine, or Jackie•FemJack Harvester•Neptune's bounty and so on and so forth. Pretty it up as much as you want but have that basic info in there for your first tag so we know what we're working with!

And after that...! Tag around. We don't have to cram up in one thread! Different Jacks could be meeting at different times, form adventuring parties, cross paths with another pack of Jacks, whatever.

For now we're in a standard multiverse meet up kind of thing, but I figure everyone's acquainted, we could start moving to other locations! :D))

[ It's not a course of action he's particularly keen on. But somehow, some sense of reason breaks through his confusion just long enough for him to decide that this guy, whoever he is, probably doesn't pose much of a threat to him.

(He doesn't look like he's armed, at least, and from this distance he can't really do much except use a plasmid. He can deal with plasmids.)

Slowly, reluctantly, he lowers the gun to his side. ]

[He sighs but doesn't completely relax when the gun's lowered, and he finally lowers his hands as well.]

All right, I'm calling myself that because that's who I am, I'm Andrew Ryan's son. And that's what's with the get-up as well.

Except no it doesn't make any goddamn sense. He knows — he knows that, yes, biologically he's related to Ryan, but he can't fathom any situation in which he'd actually call the man his father.

So why... ]

Why?

[ It's the only reply he can manage, because it's the only thing he can think. ]

[The questions are confusing, but the whole situation is, so he'll just... answer.]

Because he wanted an heir.

But, again, Jack can do little but state the obvious: ]

Andrew Ryan never had an heir.

[ At least none that he knows of. But he does know that it sure as hell wasn't going to be him. ]

Something dawns on him then, something so impossible to believe that it actually makes him laugh a little. ]

I guess he never got around to calling you his greatest disappointment, then.

[Jack freezes at that statement, because while Ryan has never said it aloud, Jack can't help but wonder sometimes if he thinks it.]

No. He's never said anything like that.

[ He still doesn't understand. Worse, though, is the question of just what the hell happened in this man's life that he'd gladly call himself an heir to Ryan— Just what the hell makes them so different?

He takes a deep breath. He can think logically about this, can't he? Maybe. (Maybe not.) ]

[ He means Rapture, temporarily forgetting the more immediate problem of the hall of mirrors. ]

[Well Jack's not thinking about how he got to Rapture, he's always been here, so he interprets the question as to their immediate location.]

[He glances at the mirrors.]
